rewinding electric motor


Electric motors are relatively simple mechanical devices, but rewinding new winding coil should only be undertaken by those who with experience in mechanical or electrical repair. A mistake or poorly-performed rewind job will result in a motor that doesn’t work and might be harmful to your device. When your motor is defective we would recommend you to buy a new motor or to take it to a professional shop for repair. Given the variety of motors and types of windings can only be a general article on rewinding. If you don’t understand the terminology, you shouldn’t rewind a motor; once you start removing the original coils, there’s no going back. Thought the followings are the most effective steps for those who are finding to rewind new coil themselves.

Followings are the 13 steps that are suitable for your rewind work.


1Clean your work surface to make sure it’s free of dirt and dust.
    

For a comfortable and non-disturbing to our executive, the work side should be clean and widely enough avoid an unexpected risks. Therefore the necessary tools should be prepared a complete set for easy going. 



2/ consider on the motor type. 3phases or single phase


There are several differences winding coil connections and wire coil. between 3 phases motor and single phase motor. To be able to rewind a motor effectively we must understand clearly about this wiring coil connection. 



3/ lubricate on the fixing thing for easy taking the motor apart


Before we start to take the motor apart to see the inside winding coil we should clean and lubricate on the fixing things like bolts, nuts or screw and leave them a moment, so we can release them more easier.


4/ carefully move out end cap and the rotor
   

Before we start to remove the end cap and the rotor to see the inside Winding coil we would rather to document or make a note on the motor Body, so that it is easy for us when we rebuild it.  


5/ illustrate the modern of winding coil and its connection type



It's the most important to understand about the winding coil modern and  its interaction winding connection, otherwise you can not reestablish and active  motor. It's the main key for technicians who are trying to rewind a motor and should be trained thoroughly.   


6/ carefully move out the existing winding coil

After you finished making a note on the winding coil modern and its connection we can start to move out the existing winding coil. However you do to move it out. It depends on you but not to damage the stater core otherwise it may result any change.


7/ count the number of wire turns in each winding coil

carefully, when you move out the winding coil from each stator slot you have to put back at the same number of wire turns and at the same modern. if everything is changed your device will work abnormally or absolutely not work. So the rewinding work should be executed by a qualified technician.


8/ clean the hard stator core

when you completely moved out the winding coil the next work is to clean your hard stator core to make sure it's not damaged or wet. Remove all the dust or dirty on its surface. 


9/ insulation the stator slots

the insulation is offered to prevent stator core from electric potential passing through the wire. The plastic seed is a good and suitable insulation sticking closely to the stator slots.


10/ rewind the new winding coil

the new winding coil must be made at the same pattern as the old winding removed. The number of wire turns and its wide dimension must be specific related to the illustration you have made. 


11/ insert the rewinding coil in to the stator slot

the inserting work must be don't carefully and correctly. Not to scratch or damage the wire insulation. Besides, you must be careful with the interaction of winding connection. There are two connection types of stator winding.


12/ insulation the winding coil

when the rewinding work is finished, the next step is to insulate the wire coil by varnish. Cover the winding thoroughly by 

the varnish and warm it up.  


13/ rebuild your motor

at the end step is to rebuild your motor. Rebuild carefully and related to the illustration or document you marked. Then connect it to an available power source to test the operation. Measure the cost of ampere whether it's according to its nominal ampere and keep it working for a period of time to see if it is hot or not.
